Poetic Space
The "Poetic Space" series captures two types of time. The images of mother-of-pearl, delicately attached one by one on the surface of fast-paced roller-painted scenes, might seem contradictory in both time and action, but they ultimately harmonize.
My paintings represent the pictorial harmony of matt and shimmering surfaces all within the colors of nature.
Rooted in Korean materials and sensibilities, particularly through the use of mother-of-pearl (najeon), my practice reflects a dialogue between tradition and contemporary abstraction. It is a search for presence within absence, and for landscape within silence.
I am particularly drawn to creating minimal, luminous spaces where material becomes not just a surface, but an experience.
This meditative language continues to evolve in dialogue with place, light, and viewers' movement.
